Matinkylä Pool

Matinkylä is becoming a public transport hub for Espoo. As the commercial centre rapidly expands new public buildings are needed to keep the urban space shared. A swimming pool adjacent to the new metro station would be public service at its best. The new pool opens wide up to the street but hides itself from the park above. It also lifts the park to allow bridge access directly to a new commercial plaza across the road. This would block most of the ever rising traffic noise from the park and create a new south facing slope for the residents to enjoy. The new sports court adds a much needed multifuctional outdoor space to the Kalapuisto park.
