Perhela Block

ALAs competition proposal for the new Perhelä housing block. Intention of the city of Järvenpää is to create dense city structure to preseve and develop areas services. Modern and high quality apartments in a city-like surroundings are on high demand in Järvenpää. Building densely in the block supports these goals brilliantly. Instead of building one massive tower, ALA proposes a series of houses with carefully designed heights and proportions.

Shopping premises connect the houses on the street level. It consists of first floors of the housing buildings and carefully proportioned masses between them creating pleasant city environment.

The apartments have simple and geometrically clean plans with effective and compact spaces. The staircases have been optimised to meet the regulations set by each buildings height. Almost every apartment open at least to two different directions, most of them to even three. All apartments have spacious, greenroomlike glazed balconies which are partly connected to living / dining areas.

The bulding masses are placed so that long vistas along the city streets open to most of the apartments. Majesticly beautiful scenery awaits in the upper floors, especially to nearby lake Tuusulanjärvi direction.
